About Blackburn
Blackburn is undergoing a huge transformation. Over the next few years, it is planned over £400m will be invested into improvements across the town centre ranging from new public spaces and improvements to the train station, to new shops and business premises.
History
Blackburn first gets a mention in the Domesday Book, as Blacheborn, in 1086, but the town really came into its own during the Industrial Revolution when it became one of the world’s first industrialised towns.
Blackburn College
Blackburn College is the largest Further Education college in East Lancashire serving over 20,000 students of all ages, backgrounds, abilities and interests. Blackburn College attracts students from many miles away and works closely with employers from Lancashire and beyond to provide excellent training for employees at all levels.

Blackburn is set in the heart of beautiful Pennine Lancashire, surrounded by hills, valleys and rolling English countryside.
Blackburn Regeneration
Blackburn has been undergoing a physical and cultural renaissance. In 1998 major regeneration work began to address some of the issues facing the town and create the masterplan for the Blackburn of the future – attractive, accessible, economically viable and thriving. In short, a great place to live, work, visit and invest.
Town Centre Partnerships
A Town Centre Partnership is a group of stakeholders from within the residential and business communities, established to oversee the regeneration and operation of the town centre. Seperate partnerships exist for Blackburn and Darwen town centres.
