Ice Skating

Do something different & come along to Planet Ice (Blackburn Ice Arena) and enjoy the superb facilities they have to offer.

Blackburn Ice Arena  offers year round skating, disco sessions for both juniors and seniors, family skating and extra holiday fun, it is one of the coolest skate sites in the North West! They have an Olympic size ice pad, with plenty of room for all.

Ice skating is a fun activity for families to do together which is not only entertaining but also increases fitness, improves balance, confidence and grace. What’s not to like about that?! Everybody starts out a bit like Bambi but most people take to it with a bit of practice and with the extra activities available here for the experienced, they’ve got room to develop their talents here, too!

The Arena also has full cafe & Bar facilities, to serve you during your visit with us, serving a great range of hot and cold food and drinks.

For those with ambitions to take their skating to a higher level you can learn to skate on our Skate Excellence Learn to Skate Programme, we run a range of six-week courses at various days and times. And during the holiday periods we also run Intensive learn to skate courses for beginners to more advanced skaters. Adults and Children can skate together so it makes for a great family activity, and you’re learning a new skill as well!

They also have a very welcoming attitude toward skating in one’s wheelchair, though they do ask for a courtesy call so they can be ready for you.

Why not become an Ice Card member if you’re local, it means significant discounts for every entry. This can be done here on the website and collect your free card when you arrive at the rink.

The Parent and Toddler sessions are something really special, where as well as on ice assistance from their friendly professionals you and the kids can also make use of the numerous Skating aids, ice scooters and toys that we lay on too!

Blackburn Arena is also the proud Home of the Blackburn Hawks Ice Hockey team. They are currently members of the EIHA Moralee Conference (NIHL N1). Attracting up to 1000 fans each home game, the Blackburn Hawks are followed by the best fans in the league, and any new fans are welcomed along to the Arena. With the Cafe and Bar open on match days, it makes for the perfect evening out for everyone!
