Soap Star and actor joins celebrity line up for Blackburn Heritage Festival

Autograph hunters in Blackburn for the Heritage Festival weekend, Saturday 13 & Sunday 14 September will delight in the opportunity of meeting not one but two television celebrities as organisers have announced that Blackburn’s own Peter Gunn has joined the line-up.  Peter is well known for his acting appearance on Coronation Street and the Disney film sensation, ‘Hannah Montana’ starring Miley Cyrus.  The Mall recently announced the X Factor finalist, Stacey Solomon will be performing on a catwalk in a ‘through the decades’ themed event involving local models from different age groups, representing different eras.

Peter will be at the pop up bandstand outside the Cathedral at 10.30am on Saturday 13th September to officially open proceedings with civic dignitaries, dancers from DAPA dance school alongside founder presenter of BBC Radio Blackburn, Gerald Jackson.

Reflecting on the heritage of bygone Blackburn, Peter said, ‘What struck me most about Blackburn when I came to live here fifteen years ago was the visible evidence of its origins and its industrial past, all of which is reflected in the buildings and architecture. I remember visiting the museum and learning of Blackburn’s political and social history, watching a film of valves being made at Mullards. I enjoy discovering friends’ and neighbours’ connections with Blackburn’s working history, the mills, the ROF, Mullards or Phillips as it became known and Thwaites’ brewery.’
