Blackburn Youth Zone is helping young people to ‘Get A Job’

Blackburn Youth Zone’s ‘Get A Job’ course is back, bigger and better for 2016, with many young people already registered for the six week programme starting Tuesday 3rd May 2016. The free course will play a vital role in helping young people that are not in employment, education or training, get back on track.

The ‘Get A Job’ programme, supported by Accenture Foundation UK and AO Smile Foundation, is aimed at helping young people aged 16 – 24 get the right skills to secure employment and achieve a GOAL PEARL certification.

Skills and training covered during the course include CV writing, cover letter writing, communications skills, interview techniques, business/company day visits and a placement opportunity at the end of the 6 weeks. The course is free to attend and will run every week at Blackburn Youth Zone on Tuesday 4pm 6:30pm, Wednesday 11am–3pm and Thursday 11am–3pm.

Zohra Shah, Employability Coordinator at Blackburn Youth Zone said “We have a fantastic free six week course planned to help as many young people as possible get into employment”.

Local businesses that form Blackburn Youth Zone’s supporter network have already pledged to support the programme by offering mock interviews and work experience opportunities for young people.
