Mr Bloom meet and greet for veggie VIPs

The Mall Blackburn is giving three Mr Bloom super fans the chance to be on the veggie VIP list to meet the TV favourite. He is due to return to Blackburn as part of the hugely anticipated Countryside Comes to Town festival on Saturday 25th June.

To be in with a chance of becoming one of just three children to exclusively meet him backstage in The Mall Blackburn youngsters must design and describe their own veggie character. All entries will be judged by Mr Bloom and the three selected winners will be meeting the man himself on the day!

The Allotment and Vegetable Nanny 'make and take' workshop will also be taking place in The Mall throughout the Countryside Comes to Town Festival.  Open at 10.00am, 12.00pm and 2.00pm The Allotment will be inviting youngsters to befriend lots of baby vegetables.

Beverly the downhill-skiing watermelon, Jessica the Sweet-Potato beauty queen and David the talented little Marrow whose ambition is to become a stage actor, will all be on hand to say hello. The Vegetable Nanny ‘make and take’ workshop will take place at 10.45am, 12.45pm and 2.45pm and families can come along and make their own vegetable baby.

Once made, children fill in their vegetable baby’s birth certificate, before being awarded a ‘Junior Vegetable Nanny’ pass to decorate and wear all day at the event.

Loraine Jones, General Manager at The Mall Blackburn, said: “The inaugural Countryside Comes to Town event was a massive success and we are over the moon that it is returning even bigger and better this year. Children travelled from all over the North West and beyond to meet Mr Bloom so this year we wanted to give three super fans a chance to speak to him backstage. The Allotment and Vegetable Nanny ‘make and take’ workshop are also set to be fantastic fun and we can’t wait to see Blackburn transform into a celebration of all things countryside once again. “

To enter the competition to meet Mr Bloom entry forms can be collected from the Ask Me Point in The Mall Blackburn or by emailing laura.diffey@themall.co.uk.

The deadline for entries is 6.00pm on Wednesday 15th June 2016
