Charity starts at The Mall Blackburn

Kind-hearted management at The Mall Blackburn have gone the extra mile for nominated charity Lancashire Mind by donating a shop unit free of charge.

It will be utilised as a charity shop for the organisation, which is working to create a happier Lancashire by campaigning to make mental health a local priority, and will open to the public on Tuesday 20th September.

As well as the unit and fittings, The Mall will also create signage and provide marketing support to help promote the shop throughout its six-week opening period.

Clothes, books, CDs and various household items will be on sale and Lancashire Mind will be accepting donations in store.

Loraine Jones, General Manager at The Mall Blackburn, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer Lancashire Mind a retail unit to raise additional funds.

“Since we started working with them earlier this year we have hosted craft activities, awareness events and even table tennis sessions, and I know that Lancashire Mind will be warmly welcomed by our shoppers.

“Mental wellbeing in Lancashire is lower than the national average, and Blackburn with Darwen has one of the lowest wellbeing levels in the county, so it’s hugely important to us to raise awareness about the work of Lancashire Mind in the area.

Fabienne Clough, Fundraising Coordinator for Lancashire Mind, added: “I cannot thank Loraine and her team enough for this wonderful opportunity.

“The Lancashire Mind charity shop will raise vital funds and increase awareness about how we can help people from across the county.

“Around 1,500 people benefit from our services each year and we expect this to grow in 2016.

“We are more than just a mental health charity, we’re a passionate movement leading the mental wellbeing revolution in Lancashire.”

The Lancashire Mind Charity shop will be located in unit 145, 2 Market Way and will be open 9.00am until 5.30pm Monday to Saturday and 10.30 until 4.30 on Sundays.
