The National Festival of Making will return to Blackburn in June 2019 with new dates!

                  15th & 16th June 2019

After attracting an audience of 40,000 visitors in 2018, a new FREE programme of culture, technology, science, art, food and music will be presented over two vibrant festival days. Expect to take part in over 100 eclectic workshops led by the best UK makers from technologists to crafters and see newly commissioned artist installations.

The National Festival of Making is a unique celebration of UK making, from the factory floor to the kitchen table.

Taking place over two festival days, with long term projects running throughout the year, The National Festival of making takes over the streets of Blackburn with music, markets, street food, art, performance, tours, talks and above all, an eclectic mix of making experiences for everyone to enjoy.

To document 2018’s programme of events and activities, we worked with Ichikoo Films to capture a weekend of fun – from making delicious sweets with Masterchef’s Mooneria Hinglotwala, a participatory sculpture emerge from a mammoth ton of clay with Clayground, Blackburn College introducing welding skills, a show stopping performance from Vaiven Circo and Northern Soul dancers bringing Tony’s Ballroom to life – experience a snapshot of the weekends magic.  https://festivalofmaking.co.uk/
