Laura and Dave Johnson of Crafty vintage.

Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council is pleased to announce that it is working with award winning Crafty Vintage, to bring the Makers of Market Square craft and vintage fair to Darwen Market and Market Square on Saturday 26th May 2018 from 10am until 4pm. This event is part of Darwen Live creating a vibrant, energetic and bustling weekend in Darwen Town Centre with something for everyone.

Crafty Vintage are the purveyors of classic vintage, collectables, retro wares, quirky handmade, fine foods and delectable cuisine. Come along and you will see a magnificent showcase of talent from the finest creators, collectors and artisans in the land. Live music, entertainers and lots of merriment will ensure that you have a wonderful day. You may find some familiar faces too, as the event will be inside Darwen Market and Annex too!

Crafty Vintage’s Laura Johnson won Lancashire Tourism Superstar Award 2017 after having a little idea back in 2011, of holding a small fair in a Church Hall, bringing together friendly and creative folk to sell their collections. Her view that there are so many talented people out there, quickly gathered momentum and very soon she needed larger venues to hold her fairs.

Laura said, “We are delighted to be holding, what we hope will be, the first of many Makers of Market Square events in Darwen. We host regular monthly fairs throughout the year in locations across Lancashire which is fantastic but this is on our doorstep and we cannot wait to be bringing this to our home town!”

“We have had a fantastic response from traders who want to be involved and the lineup for the stage is shaping up nicely too. We will be putting on the best event we can for the people of Darwen, who we hope will support this event and enjoy the family friendly feel”.

John Sturgess, Chair of Darwen Town Centre Partnership Board said, “We are thrilled to welcome Crafty Vintage and the Makers of Market Square to Darwen Market. We believe that this event will attract lots of people to come in to Darwen Town Centre to see what is on offer, not only at this event, but in the Market and across the Town Centre.”

“The Makers of Market Square will be part of the last weekend of major events before the development of the new Darwen Market Square begins. It seems very timely to launch a new event that we hope will become a regular feature. The new space has been designed to easily allow events such as this to take place for years to come at the heart of Darwen Town Centre.”
