Blackburn Empire Theatre – Announcement

After this week’s announcement from the Government that social distancing is now required and that people should avoid public buildings including theatres, we have taken the very difficult decision that we must be socially responsible and close Blackburn Empire Theatre for all public events for a period of time. With immediate effect, there will be no performances or shows until 1st May 2020. We will be reviewing the latest advice and will be posting regular updates on our website and social media.

During this time, we are working with our artists, promoters and event organisers to reschedule all events wherever possible.

Please be reassured that ticket holders will be contacted directly, and we ask that customers do not call or email Blackburn Empire Theatre until further information is given. We are working very hard behind the scenes and rest-assured you will be contacted about any shows you may have booked for. During this time, staff, where possible will be working from home and our large group of volunteers will not be coming into the theatre, so unfortunately our booking office phone number will not be available during this time.

This is a very difficult time for everyone. Blackburn Empire Theatre is a charity and almost all of our funding comes from people coming to see our shows, spending money on tickets, drinks and refreshments. In the unlikely situation that your show cannot be rescheduled, please consider donating the cost of your ticket rather than requesting a credit or refund and wait for updates about any specific shows you may have booked.

Whilst we continue to follow Government advice please stay safe and we look forward to welcoming you back to The Blackburn Empire Theatre very soon.
