Welcome Back to Blackburn

Families across Lancashire are being invited to enjoy a weekend of amazing feel-good music shows to welcome you safely back into Blackburn town centre.

The ‘Welcome Back to Blackburn’ summer shows, organised by Blackburn BID, funded by Blackburn with Darwen Council and supported by King George’s Hall, will run between 30 July and 1 August on stage on King William Street.

The all-singing, all-dancing shows by Pop Up Entertainment will be free and open to all – offering safe, family-friendly entertainment.

The 25 minute shows will feature songs that you know and love – and are guaranteed to get people singing along to the hits. The shows will take place on Friday 30 July at 1pm, 2.30pm & 4pm; on Saturday at 11am, 12.30pm, 2.30pm & 3.30pm; and on Sunday at 11am, 12.30pm & 2.30pm

Catherine Price, Blackburn town centre BID Manager, said:

As Blackburn town centre shows the green shoots of recovery after being faced by such tight restrictions we are delighted to be able to host this Covid-secure event.

The Welcome Back to Blackburn summer shows follow on from the success of the Blackburn Drive-In show in August 2020. We have once again joined forces with Pop Up Entertainment to provide an amazing event that everyone can enjoy for free.

Councillor Phil Riley, Executive Member for Regeneration at Blackburn with Darwen Council, added:

This event will be milestone marking the next steps to recovery after such a tremendously difficult and challenging period.

Our retail, leisure and hospitality businesses have put a huge amount of effort into ensuring they welcome people back safely – working with the council, police and the Business Improvement District (BID) to put the safety of customers and staff first. It’s fantastic to see this work paying off and that we are finally able to plan and enjoy events again.

It’s really pleasing to see local people spending locally and supporting local businesses and each other by following the guidance when moving around the town centre and I hope people will join in to support this event and our local businesses.
