Darwen's first Ghost Walk is big success

MORE ghostly walks around Darwen are set to be arranged after an event last month proved a spooky success.

Local historian and tour guide Simon Entwistle, along with the Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council and 3 in a Bar, organised the ghost, murder and mystery walk around the town centre with 36 curious walkers taking part.

Simon, who has led similar tours around Blackburn town centre, Witton Park and Pendle Hill said Darwen residents passed on a wealth of stories after an appeal went out in the Telegraph.

He said: “I was kindly invited by the regeneration department to conduct a Darwen walk.

“Firstly I had to gather some interesting stories. I met six local people who had excellent stories, including two outstanding ghost stories. The stories were from all over the town and were told with great passion by people who had been told them, sometimes repeated over generations.

“It was a great evening which included drinks and food at 3 in a Bar, on Belgrave Road.”

Dates for the next tours will be announced soon, if you are interested in hearing about this events and others in Blackburn and Darwen join our mailing list here.
