Happy birthday King Georges Hall

King Georges Hall staff donned 1920s outfits and stepped out in style to mark the venue's 90th birthday. The much loved concert hall was opened in October 1921 after being temporary used as a red Cross Hospital during the First World War. Over the years it has played host to thousands of famous faces including the Beatles and David Bowie. As part of the 90th birthday celebrations a special concert is planned on October 28 by the Halle orchestra who gave the first classical concert at the hall. A behind the scenes tour is also planned for November 9.

Executive member for culture and leisure, Councillor Talbot, said: "For 90 years King Georges Hall has been at the centre of life in Blackburn and almost everyone in the town can look back at fond memories and happy times spent there. "We are very lucky to have such a grand and beautiful venue in the town  at which so many famous names  have appeared."
