New art work for Blackburn by Timorous Beasties

New temporary art work will be installed on the windows of the Pavilion cafe on Church Street,  Blackburn.  Designed by internationally acclaimed due Timorous Beasties, inspiration was drawn from the impressive collections of Japenese prints and prints of local landmarks housed in Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery.

Hinting at the cotton and wallpaper industries which have been so prevalent in the town, it is designed to shed new light on the beautiful and curious collections housed at the museums and inspire and encourage people to visit it and discover more treasures.

The work is part of a programme called Revisit which is running throughout the spring and summer months of 2011 across Pennine Lancashire’s museums and galleries, hosting five national and international artists’ collaborations. Taking Pennine Lancashire’s unparalleled collection of historical artefacts as inspiration, the artists are seeking to throw new light on these beautiful and curious collections.
