Public Consultation kick starts new plan for Darwen

A public consultation has started with the intention of getting residents to help shape the future of Darwen Town Centre.

Launched by Councillor Eileen Entwistle, chair of Darwen Town Centre Partnership Board, along with Eilleen Guy, chair of the Darwen Shop and Business Association and Ian Sudall from Blackburn with Darwen Council, the opinions and ideas gained from the public consultation will help shape a new Darwen Town Centre strategy.

Following completion of the last strategy in 2010, the new town centre plan will look to build on the achievements of the past 6 years.

The consultation will take place until Friday February 3 in Darwen Market, and Friday 17th February at Darwen Leisure Centre.

Councillor Entwistle said: "I hope as many people as possible make comments and suggestions. It's important because residents can feel like their voices aren't heard but they can really help us to shape the future of the town centre.

"I'm proud to be from Darwen and I want to hear from fellow Darweners. A lot of great work has already been done in the town and I look forward to seeing more as part of this exciting new plan. It's all about bringing the community together."

The initial ideas that are being proposed by the Council and Darwen Town Centre Partnership Board can be viewed here. Let us know what you think using this feedback form.
