A MAD-CAP comedy filmed across East Lancashire will receive its ‘world premiere’ in Blackburn. Low-budget film, Tash Force, was created by a team of independent film makers and producers. It has received a lot of attention online which led to it securing a distribution deal which includes a DVD launch.

And now the film creators are hoping to raise money for charity by holding a special screening at King George’s Hall on April 19 from 7pm.

‘Tash Force’ tells the story of Tash McDermott, head of Lancashire Constabulary's Football Intelligence Unit, as he tries to track down a football hooligan ringleader and put a stop to any trouble on the terraces. Inspired by TV programmes like ‘Police, Camera, Action’, Tash gives a journalist unrestricted access to his operation. But the opinionated copper starts playing up to the camera and ends up landing himself in serious trouble.

The feature-length film stars Blackburn College teacher Mark Woodward, as Tash. Mark, 41, of Whalley Road, Sabden, said: "It was such good fun to do and it seems to be gaining a bit of interest. I have never acted before but I think I will get involved in more projects in the future – I have the acting bug!

“My pupils are already referring to me as ‘Tash’ in the corridor.”

The comedy, filmed in Nelson, Burnley, Fence, Sabden, Barrowford, Church and Blackburn, took 15 days to shoot. Locations included Station Mews newsagents in Nelson, and Blackburn Rovers and Burnley Football Clubs.

Producer Stephen Rigg, 40, of Barrowford, said: “There's a lot of interest and it’s really exciting.” ”

Tickets for the screening, available from King George's Hall, are £8. Money raised will go to two charities, the first to help six-year-old McCauley Riley, of Bolton Road, Ewood, Blackburn, who suffers from ALD – a terminal brain condition, and then a village well project in Gambia. The film will be released on DVD on April 23.
