Star of 'The Voice' to perform in Darwen

Talent show favourite to play acoustic set at Belgrave Cafe Music Bar

David Julien, 23 will play two 45 minute acoustic sets at the Belgrave music bar in Belgrave Road, from 8.30pm on sunday. He wowed judges Will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas and Danny from The Script with a version of The Script's 'Man Who Can't Be Moved'.

Bar director and former Miss Englang finalist, Alissa Robinson arranged the gig. She said: "It's absolutely brilliant to get Dacid to paly at the bar. I saw the episode of The Voice that he was on and I really liked him."

David joins a growing list of highly rated artists to play at the bar since it opened in August. Others include the likes of American delta blues man Kent Duchaine and the Merseyside based Jackie Bond Band. Alissa said "Darwen has a growing reputation for good live music and we always have a good response to acoustic sets. People now expect every pub or bar to have at least one band on every week and they don't like paying so we try to keep it free."

Francis Robinson, also a director, said "The live music scene in Darwen is given a platform by the ever growing Darwen Live Festival. People travel from all over the North West to see bands we have on".
