Cleaning Operative is flushed with success!

A long serving employee at The Mall Blackburn is flushed with success after being named Attendant of the Year in the national Loo of The Year Awards for the second time.

The Mall also retained its Platinum Grading for its toilet facilities in the Shopping Centre category of the awards, which have been identifying the best loos in Britain since 1987.

Cleaning operative Peter Haddock, who has worked at The Mall for nine years, was officially recognised for his continued efforts in keeping the facilities in first class condition all year round.

The toilet facilities were praised following an independent, unannounced visit from judges at the end of 2013.

Each entry is assessed against 100 judging criteria including signage and décor, fixtures and fittings and overall standards of cleanliness and management.

Loraine Jones, General Manager at The Mall Blackburn, said: “We were delighted when we found out that Peter had once again been recognised for his continued hard work.

“Without him and his team we would not be receiving our Platinum Grading in the The Loo of the Year Awards, which are widely regarded as the ‘standard setters’ for all those that provide ‘away from home’ facilities for staff, customers and visitors.

“We pride ourselves on giving each and every shopper a fantastic experience when they visit The Mall Blackburn and the toilet facilities are a very important part of that.

“Our entire team is dedicated to making every aspect of The Mall the best it can be and this award is proof that we are getting it right!”

The Loo of the Year Awards were sponsored by Clos-o-Mat, Ophardt and TWC and were supported by the four national tourism bodies,Visit England, Visit Scotland, Visit Wales and The Northern Ireland Tourist Board as well as Airdri, Danfo, Bonasystems, Lepicol, SCA Tork, and Willings Services.
