Children to take over The Mall

Lancashire school children are being given the chance to run The Mall Blackburn as part of a nationwide initiative that is being supported by the Office of the Children’s Commissioner.

The Mall Takeover Day, which will take place on Wednesday 11th February, aims to provide children, aged nine and over, with an insight into a career in retail and give them the chance to voice their ideas and opinions.

Pupils will be given the opportunity to work alongside members of the management, marketing and security teams to find out how each of the roles contribute to the daily running of the The Mall.

Loraine Jones, General Manager at The Mall Blackburn, said: “We can wait to see Lancashire children take over our jobs for the day as part of this brilliant initiative.

“I am a great believer in giving young people the opportunity to gets hands on experience in the world of work so they can make informed decisions about what they really want to do when they leave school.

“Of course, we are really looking forward to seeing what ideas they come up with too and it would be fabulous if we could implement some of those ideas to enable the children to have a lasting legacy here in The Mall as well as give them something unique to put on their CVs!”

Schools that would like to take part in The Mall’s Takeover Day should email blackburn.marketing@themall.co.uk
