The Mall calls for “Rubbish” Designs

Lancashire youngsters are being asked to ‘think outside the recycling box’ by coming up with an eye catching design to encourage shoppers to make full use of The Mall Blackburn’s recycling bins.

As part of The Mall’s EnviroMall initiative, which has been raising the profile of environmentally friendly practices within The Mall and the local community for more than ten years, the #DesignABinToWin competition is open to schools and individuals across the county.

The winning design will be used on all recycling bins across the shopping centre and the grand unveiling will take place on World Environment Day on Sunday 5th June.

In addition, the mastermind behind the design will win a brand new bike and £350 cash prize for their school.

Laura Diffey, Marketing Manager at The Mall Blackburn, said: “Our young shoppers never let us down when we ask them to come up with fabulous designs, with past examples including our gift card and shopping bags.

“The #DesignABinToWin competition is part of our wider EnviroMall campaign, which saw us divert a massive 290 tonnes of general waste from landfill and we hope that our new snazzy bins will encourage shoppers to help us increase this number again this year.

“We are looking for fun, creative designs that have a link to recycling and we can’t wait to see the entries!”

The competition is open for entries and the closing date for designs to be submitted is Thursday 12th May 2016. Schools and parents can request an entry pack by emailing laura.coughlin@themall.co.uk or calling 01254 54455.
