There is an exciting opportunity to be involved in a public consultation event on Wednesday, September 21st 2016 regarding The Exchange 71-73 King William Street, Blackburn BB1 7DT between 2pm and 8pm.
The Exchange, formerly known as The Cotton Exchange, may also be remembered as the old Apollo cinema and Tiggi’s Restaurant but a new future awaits it. It is a unique and iconic building which reflects Blackburn’s social and economic heritage at the heart of Victorian Lancashire.

It is the start of an amazing new chapter for the former Apollo Cinema. Having purchased the building last year, Re:Source Blackburn, a local charity, secured initial funding from the Architectural Heritage Fund, the Heritage Lottery Fund and Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council for surveys of the building and an “Option Appraisal”.

Thanks to Purcell Architects, there are now some initial plans, and the Options Appraisal is simply to consult on what this beautiful building should be used for. The Trustees need to hear the opinions, dreams and thoughts of everyone who cares about Blackburn with Darwen.

They are encouraging as many people to come as possible.

Dr Alastair Murdoch, Chair of Trustees of Re:Source said, “We would like you to attend the consultation to help us decide what to do with this important and wonderful building. There will be an opportunity for you to look at the draft plans, consider the options, have a tour around the building at 2pm or 6pm and listen to a short 30 minute talk by James Sanderson of Purcell  at 3pm or 7pm.”
