Great Get Together

Big neighbourhood celebrations will be taking place all over the borough in June as part of an exciting national project.

This summer, on June 16 to 18, the biggest neighbourhood celebrations since the Jubilee street parties are being organised. It’s called The Great Get Together and everyone in Blackburn and Darwen can be a part of it.

The events are inviting people to get together with their neighbours to share food and celebrate all that we hold in common. It could be a street party or a shared barbecue, a picnic or a bake off. What matters is that we have fun and bring communities closer together.

The Great Get Together is inspired by MP Jo Cox, who was killed on June 16 last year. Jo worked to reject divisive politics and simply want to bring our communities together and celebrate all that unites us. This is our chance.

Events are already being planned, and anyone who wants to organise one of their own can register their event at: https://www.greatgettogether.org
