Weavers Wheel has been funded through the Lancashire Local Enterprise Partnership delivering a strategic cycle network for Blackburn with Darwen, part of the wider East Lancashire Strategic Cycle network.

Weavers Wheel is a 26km route encircling Blackburn Town Centre

As part of Blackburn with Darwen Council's commitment to encourage cycling and improve levels of physical activity amongst children and adults, new mountain bike trails have been created in Billinge Woods, Witton Country Park.

The new trails form a figure of eight loop within the woods and are designed to offer cyclists a challenging and technical cycling experience catering for experienced and also budding mountain bike riders. The two trails 'Tricky sixty' and 'Trail of two trees' are both approximately 600m in length and when completed as a circuit offer cyclists roughly 2 miles of mountain biking pleasure.

Bike & Go  is an ingenious scheme that lets you hire a bike from participating train stations and continue your journey quickly and easily under your own steam. No walking, no waiting - just get on your Bike & Go! Travellers can rent one of 10 new bikes on offer at Blackburn railway station.

Visitors need to register on the ‘bike and go’ website and pay an annual subscription of £10, which allows them to hire bikes from any of the 50 participating stations in the UK.

The green scheme hopes to encourage those entering the town via train to then travel to their destination using the bikes, reducing carbon emissions and promoting exercise.

After paying the annual fee, cyclists then need to collect a key for a bike from the ticket office, where they will be charged £3.80 to hire it for 24 hours.
