The College has a thriving Sixth Form Centre and also provides a wide range of degrees, HNDs and professional qualifications at the University Centre at Blackburn College. The College is currently going through a massive regeneration programme – new, greener more attractive buildings are springing up all over the town centre Campus including a 13 million pound state of the art University Centre and a new core building planned in the next few years. New courses are constantly being added to the College’s already extensive range – for 2009 these include Journalism, Complementary Medicine, Business Marketing and Writing for Creative Industries all within the University Centre at Blackburn College.
2008/09 was an outstanding year of success for the College, including one of the best ever Ofsted inspection reports for a College in the whole country, a Beacon Award for excellence in teaching and learning, an Investors in People award and many subject specific accreditations such as the Association of Photographers accreditations. Most recently the College has become one of the first in Lancashire to gain the Training Quality Standard with excellence in Childhood Studies, Textiles and School Support Staff.
