"Carousel" is one of the best loved musicals of all time. Small wonder when it contains such favourites as "June Is Bustin' Out All Over", "When The Children Are Asleep" and of course "You'll Never Walk Alone" The story of Billy Bigelow and Julie Jordan's ill fated marriage is based on a play of 1909. "Carousel" was Rodgers and Hammerstein's second collaboration following the successful but costly "Oklahoma". After the former's success Sam Goldwyn of MGM strongly advised Richard Rodgers to shoot himself as he would never be able to write anything as good again. "Carousel" opened in Conneticut 1945 to a rapturous reception. Rodgers decided to leave his gun in its holster.
This production cuts no corners as Blackburn Musical Theatre Company has spared no expense to bring you a stunning blockbuster of a show. In fact we could say you are in for a real nice clambake.
