New Asda store opens in Darwen

Darwen's ASDA has opened following a £500,000 facelift since the supermarket giant took over from former owners Netto.

Store manager Stephanie Davies and colleagues at the new ASDA store in Darwen met children from community project Reach Out Darwen, who were selected to open the store on School Street.

The children cut the ribbon at the ceremony, were given a tour of the store before it opened and received a £50 gift card as a thank-you.
