Panto brings bumper year for ticket sales
8th January 2016
One of Blackburn’s biggest entertainment venues has revealed tickets have already been sold or reserved for this year’s Christmas pantomime following record-breaking ticket sales in December.
Multiple showings of this year’s Christmas production, Sinbad at the Thwaites Empire Theatre, have already been sold out despite tickets only going on sale for group bookings in late December.
The Empire’s most recent Christmas pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk, received rave reviews online and saw robust ticket sales throughout December 2015.
Chairman of Thwaites Empire Theatre, Michael Berry, said: “It was a record-breaking year for pantomime ticket sales. We’ve had a lot of schools and large groups coming in and they have enjoyed it so much that they’ve booked for next year straight away. One school has booked to see a Christmas pantomime at the Empire for the next three years!”
People are urged to snap up a bargain with special deals on group bookings until the end of March.
Mr Berry added: “Following on from the success we have had with group bookings, we are now accepting large group bookings (20+ people) for Sinbad and there will also be an early bird discount this year, which will be valid until Thursday, 31st March. We tend to find friends, families and people in general like to show their support when they are local and I think that’s why ticket sales were strong.”
Panto favourite Callum Arnott who played Simple Simon in Jack and the Beanstalk will return to the Empire once again to star in Sinbad, which promises an unforgettable experience filled with fun, laughter and special effects.
Theatre goers will follow Sinbad, his brother Tinbad and his mother Dame Salubria Fatima as they set out to rescue the beautiful Princess Pearl who has been kidnapped by Sinistra and his Henchmen Pirates.
Sinbad’s quest is to save the Princess from a horrible fate and return a Magic Crystal to its rightful owner who is a Mermaid.
There are songs to be sung, dances to be danced and boos to be shouted in the traditional family pantomime that promises plenty of magic, excitement, love and adventure.
