Art Gallery in the Pavillions

Art Gallery in the Pavillions in February

A GROUP of students will transform an empty town centre pavilion into a haven for art after securing council funding for the project.

Around 20 artists will be showing off their work for a month at the large glass pavilion in Church Street, Blackburn.  The exhibition has been organised by a group of Blackburn students and will run from January 27 to February 27.

A Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council spokesman said: “The students have secured funding through our Deal or No Deal funding stream and this has allowed them to go ahead with the project.”

The Deal or No Deal funding is aimed at young people aged 13 to 19, or 25 for people with special needs.

The projects allows the youngsters to put forward their ideas on how they would improve or develop activities for young people, and at the same time be in with a chance of being awarded up to £50,000 to make it happen.

Staff from Blackburn museum are involved in helping the students get the project up and running.
