Life's a Beach in Blackburn!

Blackburn town centre is set to be the hottest place to be this summer as King William Street undergoes a dramatic transformation.

Throughout August, the centre is being turned into a seaside resort complete with fun rides, deckchairs and ten tonnes of sand creating a sandy beach.

There will also be water boat rides, giant water walker balls and bungee trampolines.

And for those who enjoy their fun a little on the quieter side, buckets and spades will be available free of charge.

The beach will open to the public on Wednesday, August 7.

To celebrate the opening Custard the Clown will be entertaining families with balloon modelling

The Blackburn beach will be open every day from 10am until 6pm until Sunday, September 1.

Councillor Maureen Bateson, Executive member for Regeneration at Blackburn with Darwen Council, said: “The beach will be a welcome attraction for the town centre.

“Children will be able to make sandcastles with buckets and spades and families will be able to enjoy all the fun of a day at the seaside.

“I encourage people from all over the borough to come out and enjoy the fun. Fingers crossed that the weather stays warm and sunny!”
