Weather affects Lantern Parade & Fireworks

Annual Lantern Parade, Fireworks & Cathedral Carol Concert on Thursday, 11th December 2014.

Due to local weather warnings of high winds & heavy rain, there are changes to our previously advertised schedule for this evenings Lantern Parade, Fireworks & Cathedral Carol Concert.

The Lantern parade has been cancelled, instead we will have from 4:30pm a small outdoor installation of Lanterns (weather permitting) at St Pauls Gardens by Blackburn College and the new Leisure Centre.  There will also be an indoor lantern garden at St Johns Centre (behind the Town Hall) from 5 – 6pm. Children will be able to collect their lanterns from there.

At the indoor garden there will be musical and light performances. Everyone will be directed to go to the Cathedral where they will be entertained by an outdoor light show & music from 6:30 – 6:45pm. Then at 6:45pm there will be fireworks, although this will be a scaled down version to music and subject to weather conditions.

There will be small outdoor installation of lanterns in the Cathedral Gardens but again this is weather permitting.  The Carol Concert in the Cathedral will start at 7.15pm.
