Helen Skelton Opens GO Outdoors Store in Blackburn

Helen Skelton opens newly refurbished Blackburn Go Outdoors

A newly refurbished GO Outdoors store was officially opened today, Saturday 4th March, by TV presenter and outdoor enthusiast Helen Skelton.

Just before 9am today, Helen cut the ribbon at the store's opening event and welcomed in eager customers who had been queuing outside, greeting them with goody bags and vouchers to spend inside the newly kitted-out store.

Shortly after this, a Q&A session with the mum-of-3 took place, in which she explained what the outdoors means to her: She said, “Nature and adventure are great levellers. There’s no denying time spent outside is good for your mental health and that’s why I would encourage anyone to invest in yourself by being outdoors. This store provides the gear for people to do that.”

Helen also handed over a cheque to a representative from Mind for all the proceeds raised during a hugely successful GO Outdoors charity fundraising campaign ‘#HatsOnForMind’.

The campaign saw celebrity ambassadors Sean Fletcher, David Seaman and Julia Bradbury join Helen in designing a range of Mind branded bobble and beanie hats, available to buy from GO Outdoors stores this season. The business pledged to raise at least £100,000 to support Mind and managed to more than double that figure, with a grand total of £217,012 being raised.

The newly refurbished store is part of the vast estate of GO Outdoors stores across the UK. With free and easy parking, it is the go-to destination in Blackburn for outdoor enthusiasts, stocking everything from the latest tents and camping equipment, to waterproof jackets, walking boots, bikes, rucksacks and more.

It now features a new Naylors Equestrian department, expanded Fishing Republic department and Bike 365, enabling customers to pick up specialist equipment for equestrian, angling and cycling activities alike.

GO Outdoors Blackburn’s address is ‘Throstle St, Bank Top, Blackburn, BB2 1TQ’.
